Ten on Tuesday

Our Ten on Tuesday Independence Day Wrap Up
We had such a blast this weekend and can't wait for more fireworks later this month for Pioneer Day.

1~ Since Abbie was so sick over Easter, we never got to color eggs.  Better late than never, we colored Patriotic Eggs:)

2~ After Matt got home from work on Saturday night, we decided to take the kids to the drive-in for the first time.  We went and saw Mr. Popper's Penguins.
Asher just giggled and belly laughed through almost the whole movie
Abbie fell asleep about an hour into the movie, so I am glad we brought her bunny and pillow:)

3~ Sunday morning I made Patriotic Pancakes for the kids.
Red~ Fresh Strawberry
White~ White Chocolate
Blue~ Fresh Blueberry
White was the winner for the kids, and I happen to agree;)

4~ For Sunday Dinner we went to eat with my Dad and Janis.  We got to have Asher serve us some fruit, then watch him lick salt off a plate, and eat plain pizza sauce (double yuck!)  We had fun swinging and playing outside.  Asher kept asking when we were going to leave so that he could be at grandma's house without us.  I really feel the love.

5~ Monday morning the kids slept in for the first time practically EVER!
Then we went to the local pool with Matt's family.  We had so much fun.  We got Asher and Abbie to go on the BIG water slides with us.  I put my face underwater to chase the kids and Abbie thought I was drinking it.  Abbie told me, "Don't drink that water, spit it out right now, do you understand!" So funny

6~Matt and our Brother in Law took Asher to the local burger joint to get us some yummy burgers.  Asher was so excited for good rootbeer (a non caffinated drink) and hangurbers.

7~ Once it got got closer to 7:00, we headed to the park for the big city fireworks.  I tried out some of the ideas from this post, but some were my own.
I wanted it to be a fun little party for all of the cousins, and I believe it worked because all of the treats were gone by the end of the night:)
The layered drinks were a big hit because they were unique.  I don't like Gatorade, so I need to come up with other drinks to compliment the Sobe Pina Colada.

The Patriotic Popcorn is the same recipe I used at this babyshower

 Star Shaped Watermelon

Oreo Cookie Suckers made out of the Limited Edition Summer Creme Cookies

 Dipped Pretzel Crackers

My cousin did the chocolate dipped strawberries that were the perfect touch.

8~ I made some mini bean bags and had the older kids play a toss game to see how many points they could earn.  I want to make a sturdy version for next year, with prizes, because the kids did really well.

9~ I was able to get some pictures of the kids in the Fourth of July attire, but mostly they just wanted to run around and be silly... so I got some goofy pictures with even goofier facial expressions:)

Abbie has the look of, "Mother, I will have no more of this!"

Abbie just kissed Asher on the cheek and he got all sheepish

10~ The kids were so excited for the fireworks, even when the sprinklers came on right were we were sitting.  Fortunately, someone investigated and found the sprinkler valve:)
Abbie was such a flirt, and had so much fun telling people about the fireworks.  Asher liked the colors, but thought that the fireworks are still too loud.  He watched from the car with grandma helping him plug his little ears:)

It was such a fun holiday, and I am glad that we got to start some new traditions with the kids.  I love the Fourth of July, and I love having the moments captured in pictures and memories.

Ben and Asher seem so much alike!
He's always asking me when I'm leaving too...even when the visiting teachers are here, he wants me to leave.

And he doesn't like the loud part of the fireworks either. His ears were covered for a good part of the show.

How funny!

And your treats look awesome!

Your photography is amazing. And I love the idea of patriotic eggs. Plus, the pancakes looked divine. White probably would have been my fave too. :)

Looks like you guys had an awesome day!! I was terrible at getting pictures.... as always!! Cody was a little afraid of the loud fireworks too, and yes he is always wondering when somebody is either going to come get him, or when we are going to take him somewhere else.

Oh, all the red white and blue food looks amazing! I love the idea of the pancakes in different colors. The kids love it when I add things to their pancakes, so I'll have to start thinking about colors too. I love your blog.
