I have spent every Mother's Day of my married life, running around like a chicken with my head cut off. So many places to visit... mom's, step mom's, MIL's, grandma's... like I said~ CRAZY!
I was always having a miserable day, so I finally said, "No more, it's my day too!"
I still wanted to do something nice for the important women in my life, and so the The Luncheon was born.
A lot of planning and effort went into this, and I am pleased with how it turned out. I think each of the mom's felt special, and could see that the effort I made, was in appreciation for all they do for me and my family.
I am pretty sure that as long as we live in this state, the Mother's Day Luncheon will be the new tradition.
{The Decor}
There are tutorials all over the web. These are super easy, but time consuming.
Next time, I want to get some latex spray paint and spray the Styrofoam to blend better. I also learned with this little craft that corsage pins are NOT cheap!
I got these Chinese Paper Lanterns in Deep Purple, Lilac, Pale Yellow, Beige, and Dove Grey, in varying sizes, for an awesome price at the Paper Lantern Store.
The kids loved the lanterns! The lanterns created a great canopy of sorts to hang above the table. I really like how it turned out.
I used the archway from our wedding as a backdrop. I also used some of the lanterns to hang from the center on the arch, for an added touch.
{The Table}
I went to the Thrift Store and got a few Tea Cup and Saucer sets, to use as individual flower pots, for the mom's to take home. I get a ceramic/glass drill bit to drill holes in the bottom of the cups, for draining purposes. It didn't work, because the bit kept sliding all over the bottom of the cup. My step dad is going to show me how to use it, so that next time... it works:)
My mom gave my the Vintage Glass Plate/Teacup serving sets that my grandma got from an old church.
I got the pearl beaded napkin rings from my grandma, and the cloth napkins for a steal at Joann's.
Dainty and practically perfect.
These little beauties popped up the day before. They matched the color palette I chose so perfectly, that I added them to my little vintage glass jar and placed them on the table.
{The Food}
Asparagus with Fresh Dill Butter
My version of Zupa's Nuts About Berries Salad
Mixed Greens with Strawberries, Blueberries, and Raspberries...
topped with finely chopped Cinnamon Almonds and
(sooooo yummy!)
White Cake with Lemon Curd and Fluffy Frosting
There were a couple of mishaps, and I couldn't get everything ready the night before, because we didn't know how the weather would be.
The luncheon started about 15-20 minutes late, but all the mom's said it was worth the wait:)
I wouldn't have been able to accomplish everything if not for Abbie taking a nap;) and all of the help my sister gave. She was such a great help.
It was a great Mother's Day Weekend, and I can't wait for next year.

Thanks Kristina:) I didn't get to try any of the food until it was practically cold, but even then it was still good.
